Intro to Maps
Geographers describe where things are by measure of langitude and longitude. Cartography, the science of mapmaking, also helped geographers describe where things are. Since a map is a two dimensional model of the Earth's surface and the Earth is a three dimensional sphere, a map is never accurate. Early maps were used as reference tools because they weren't correct, but they identified the object's absolute and relative location. Maps were also used as combination tools to convey the distribution of human activities or physical features.
