1. How many people lost their lives from the civil war in Sudan?

2 million people lost their lives from the civil war in Sudan

2. Who are the Lost Boys? . What two things started the civil war in Sudan? 

The Lost Boys were orphaned young boys who went to a refugee camp to escape war. Two things that started the civil war is religion and oil.

4. Who was fighting in the war? 

 North and South Sudan

5. What hardships did the boys face on their journey to Ethiopia? 

 They lacked food, shelter and water because they were in the desert . Animals were also attacking them.

6.What happened to the refugee camp at Ethiopia?

 The refugee camp shut down as the new Ethiopian government took over. 

7. How many years did the Lost Boys walk total after the attacks on the villages?

 They walked for 5 year total

 8. In what ways to the boys eat differently than average Americans? 

They eat crackers and milk

9. What was John’s job at the age of 13? 

 He had to bury the dead bodies of the camp

 10. How does sleeping in America compare to sleeping at the refugee camp? 

It was more comfortable because they had 6 inch mattresses to sleep on instead of sleeping on the ground like they did at the refugee camp.

11. How many months of assistance does the government provide? What happens after that time? 

The government provided 3 months. After that time, they are expected to work and provide for themselves. They are also to repay the government. 

12. What holiday traditions do the boys want to know the meaning of? 

They want to know the meaning of Christmas, Santa, and a Christmas tree. 

13. What is John scared of doing? Why? 

John is scared of ice skating because he said he is too tall for it. 

14. What are John’s jobs?

John's job is to pack gaskets in a factory and grilling burgers at McDonald's.

15.What is Daniel’s job? 


He processes checks at a bank.

16. Why does Daniel think life in America is tough? 

 Because they he has late hours and early mornings. 
 
17. What do the boys think of Americans? 

 Because people aren't as friendly as they were back at the camp.

18. Why do merchants file a complain with the police?

They feel intimidated when the boys travel in groups.

19. How are the lost boys feeling 1 year in America?

They are feeling lonely and wanted to talk to their families.

3/23/20 Alexander the Great and Bucephalus          Bucephalus was Alexander's horse that he won. He was known to have a massive head, black coat, and a white sea on his brow. Alexander's father was offered Bucephalus for a large sum, but thought Bucephalus appeared untamable. But Alexander said to take the horse and if he couldn't tame it then he would have to pay his father back. Alexander goes on to tame Bucephalus by speaking to him and turning the horse away from the sun so he doesn't see his shadow. They grow up together for nearly two decades and fought many battles. Unfortunately, Bucephalus dies of battle wounds in 326BC. Alexander the Great loved the horse and even founded a city named Bucephala in honor of his stallion.
